Physical Requirements
At Nat Hab, we provide access to some of the most wondrous nature encounters the world has to offer. Many take place in destinations that are wild and remote, with varying physical demands and limited medical facilities. All trips may not be suitable for every traveler. In order to participate in this itinerary, travelers must comfortably and reliably be able to execute all physical requirements as noted below.

Early Mornings
Travelers must be able to walk 2 miles unassisted along a variety of terrain and should expect to walk a total of 2-3 miles per day during the Machu Picchu & the Sacred Valley portion
Walks range from 1-2 miles each; travelers should expect 2-3 hours of physical activity daily in high humidity in the Amazon and in high altitude in Macchu Picchu & the Sacred Valley
Most walks are at a leisurely pace with guided interpretation
Terrain in the Amazon includes uneven ground that can be wet and slippery
Terrain in Machu Picchu & the Sacred Valley includes stone steps, cobblestone streets, and hills
Travelers must be able to step in and out of motorized skiffs during the Amazon portion
The Wayna Picchu hike is especially challenging: climb approximately 1,200 feet from the base of Machu Picchu by following a narrow, steep path with many stone steps carved directly from the mountain

Travel by van and charter bus on bumpy, winding roads
Train and local bus with steep switchbacks to and from Machu Picchu
Skiffs for excursions
Not appropriate for travelers using wheelchairs or walkers
Travelers must be able to navigate stairs comfortably on their own
Machu Picchu: daytime temps range from 60–80°F
Amazon: high humidity with temps in the 80s–90s°F
Rain possible year-round, especially in January and February
May–Oct: dry season; warmer in Machu Picchu, low water in Amazon
Nov–April: wet season; cooler in Machu Picchu, high water in Amazon
Machu Picchu portion operates at 8,000 to 12,000 feet
