Group Size
A very important feature of our Portugal journey is the limited group size, capped at just 12 travelers. This isn’t just a number; it’s what makes it possible to truly connect with Portugal in an authentic way. Because we travel in such an intimate group, we’re able to step inside the rhythms of local life with exclusive experiences and access that larger tours can’t offer. From private port tastings in hidden wine cellars to meaningful encounters with artisans and tradition keepers in mountain villages, our size opens doors to cultural treasures that remain out of reach for most.
Staying small also allows us to enjoy the warm hospitality of the boutique and historic properties that host us along the way. And just as importantly, our limited footprint makes for a quieter, more personal pace with less impact on the communities we visit, ensuring the journey is more meaningful for both travelers and the people who welcome us.
Take this trip on a private basis, traveling exclusively with your immediate family, multi-generational family or group of friends.

Important Information About This Trip
This special journey offers far more than typical sightseeing and cultural activities. It’s an authentic, in-depth experience in parts of Portugal rarely seen by travelers. By venturing first into the quieter stretches of the upper Douro River, we step away from tourist crowds and into a world where traditional lifestyles flourish. But that's only the beginning. Our route continues deep into the stunning Serra da Estrela mountains, a region untouched by typical tourism, where Terra & Tu is the only tour operator offering overnight stays. Here, you'll share memorable meals with local residents, stroll with shepherds tending their flocks, and truly immerse yourself in Portuguese rural life. This itinerary is thoughtfully curated through our meaningful connections within these communities, ensuring a unique encounter with Portugal's living heritage.
Given ample notice, our team can accommodate most dietary needs and restrictions.
