Our Story

Jed Weingarten

Jed grew up in Colorado, where the mountains, outdoor sports and an early passion for expedition whitewater kayaking shaped his interest in exploration and photography.

He studied East Asian studies at Lewis & Clark College, an academic focus that complements his field experience across the Himalayas, the Tibetan Plateau and Mongolia.

With more than 30 years of experience as a photographer and guide, Jed has worked in remote regions around the world. His photography has appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic and Outside, among other publications. His work spans Asia, Central and South America and North America, with a focus on river systems and high-altitude environments.

Jed has filmed expeditions on the Futaleufu River in Chile and worked as a co-cameraman on “The Yunnan Great Rivers Expedition” and the Discovery Channel’s “Adventure Bhutan.” He has paddled rivers in Chile, Central America, India and across North America. In 2017, his team was the first to film a snow leopard successfully hunting a wild prey species (blue sheep).

Jed works with photographers at all skill levels, taking a hands-on approach to teaching in the field. He helps guests refine technique and strengthen visual storytelling, breaking down complex concepts into practical skills that can be applied in real time. His background in outdoor environments supports his ability to guide in remote settings, where he combines technical instruction with field experience to help guests engage more deeply with the places they photograph.

Now based in Bozeman, Montana, he spends his free time adventuring with his wife and daughter.
